Welcome to Helena, Alabama!
Helena is located just a few miles south of Birmingham. It is a bedroom community with lots of young families and energetic empty nesters and retirees, too. It is one of the Top 10 safest cities in America and the safest city in Alabama.
Helena is a haven for families and individuals looking to escape the rat race of big city living, yet it is close enough to enjoy all the amenities Metropolitan Birmingham has to offer, such as world class restaurants, major medical facilities, colleges and universities, Baron’s baseball, an award winning art museum, an extremely popular zoo, The McWane Science Center and so much more.
Helena has some of Shelby County’s top rated schools and has an active city youth recreation program which encompasses baseball, softball, basketball, soccer, cheerleading and football—something for every season.
The city features an excellent park system and a recreation/multi-use facility with an indoor all weather walking track and full banquet facilities. Joe Tucker Park features a stocked fishing lake, picnic pavilions, tennis courts and an outdoor paved walking track. It also features a Boundless Playground, accessible for children of all abilities, athletic fields and an outdoor chapel atop a small hill overlooking the lake.
The Cahaba River and Buck Creek, one of its tributaries, run through the city. Two restaurants overlook Buck Creek Dam, one of which is in the building that served as the area’s train depot many years ago.
Helena maintains one of the lowest crime rates in America and has an excellent fire rating which saves residents on their insurance expenses.
If you are looking to relocate, you owe it to yourself to come and visit the City of Helena, Alabama—it’s where you want to be!
